Our location on the world-famous Dike
The name says it all: Café Restaurant de Dijk is located right on the world-famous Dike of Volendam, the place where our village once arose. You will find us at the cozy Volendam harbor, within walking distance of all sights.
On De Loswal – our harbor-side terrace – you’ll be sitting first row. With a view of the Markermeer, traditional botters in the background and a cold (locally brewed) in your hand. The Volendam dialect around you completes the experience.
More than 130 years of hospitality
If the walls of this building could talk….
Hospitality history began here in 1890, when Leendert Spaander opened café De Beurs, starting a tradition of hospitality that continues to this day.
Over the years, the premises changed names frequently. Older Volendammers still know it as De Limekit or Jaap de Bok’s café; places where many a village story originated.
Since 1994 we have proudly carried the aptly named Caféde Dijk. In 2002 Danny van Noorden took over and together with Roos Koning built the café into what it is today. Hopefully “heirs to the throne” Ger van Noorden and Dan van Noorden will continue this family tradition.

On the characteristic harbor of Volendam lies De Dijk. A beautiful place to enjoy a snack, drink or a delicious dinner on the terrace with a unique view of the lively activity of the world-famous Dijk and the IJsselmeer.
The Dike is open from morning
When our first guests drink a fragrant cup of coffee or cappuccino with whipped cream and pastries. In the afternoon we offer an extensive lunch menu and in the evening you can dine in our à la carte restaurant with classic and contemporary dishes.

Conviviality is in the Volendammers’ blood. That is why we organize fun events every week: from cozy open stage evenings to live music with well-known artists, and theme days such as Mussel Pan, Unlimited Sliptong, Dinner Tuesday and Mixed Grill Monday. And during the annual Volendam Fair? Then the roof goes off!
